The public is invited to the monthly meeting of the Springs Community Alliance on Thursday, August 17, at 7:00 pm at La Luz Center, 17560 Greger Street in the Springs.
The August agenda will feature a presentation of the recently released report, “Hidden in Plain Sight (2017),” a follow up on the Portrait of Sonoma Valley that was released in 2014. New data on the challenges facing Sonoma Valley—as well as the ways the philanthropic sector is responding—will be presented, followed by a dialogue on how to shape our collective future.
NOTE: A Portrait of Sonoma County is an in-depth look at how residents of Sonoma County are faring in three fundamental areas of life: health, access to knowledge, and living standards. While these metrics do not measure the county’s breathtaking vistas, the rich diversity of its population, or the vibrant web of community organizations engaged in making it a better place, they capture outcomes in areas essential to well-being and opportunity.
The meeting is open to the public and anyone with an interest in the Springs is welcome to attend and weigh in on issues that matter to them. Translation services will be provided.
SCA’s mission is to serve as a hub of communication and information affecting the interests and well-being of all people who live in, serve, or conduct business within the “Springs” neighborhoods of El Verano, Boyes Hot Springs, Fetters Hot Springs, and Agua Caliente.
The goals of the alliance include economic development; environmental safety, beauty, and preservation; traffic and roadway issues; health; community outreach and hospitality.
Regular meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month at La Luz from 7:00PM-8:30PM.
The alliance will be hosting Mike Acker, author of”The Springs; Resort Towns of Sonoma Valley”, a recently published book on the history of the Springs. Mike will be giving a slide presentation of material from the book and answering questions. Mike is also interested in hearing stories from Springs residents so this promises to be a fascinating evening!
Announcements will be made prior to the start of the presentation.
